Christen Thompson for Heber City Council

Heber Valley

Hi! I'm Christen Thompson

I'm running for city council because I love this place! I want to protect our beautiful open spaces, keep our air and water clean, make sure Heber stays affordable, build more trails and paths so we can all get around easily, and create places where we can gather and strengthen community.

Open Space

Open Space

Protect Heber Valley from urban sprawl through conservation easements, zoning that matches our general plan to preserve the majority of land as open space with public access and follow Midway's example. Put an open space bond on the ballot and preserve what we can for future generations.

Clean Water

Clean Water

Expand our sensitive lands ordinance to protect more drainage areas and Heber Valley's water supply.

Clean Air

Clean Air

Work with the county to expand transit. We need a bus going from Provo Airport, through Heber, directly to the Salt Lake City Airport and the reverse.

Affordability

Affordability

Having adequate supply and good transportation options can ease the pressure we have on the high cost of living. Keep the building concentrated downtown. The current city council has designated 150 W to 150 E as higher density, and that's where we should keep the density. Let's make it easier for homeowners to add an additional dwelling unit at their primary residence.

Trails and Paths

Trails and Paths

We need better connections within Heber and connecting Heber. Let's follow the county master trail plan and get those trails built along the canals, Center Street, and more. Here is a picture of my ebike commute to Deer Valley :) Don't let a little snow stop you!

Heber City at a crossroads

Heber City at a crossroads

Last weekend I got to spend an entire day up in the High Uintas wilderness, exploring trails, swimming and floating on a lake and taking a nap. Heber Valley is the largest population center in Wasatch County, and we have the opportunity to decide and shape what Heber will be like in our future.

Had a great ride this weekend on the Jordanelle Ridge! This is exactly why I'm running for city council - to help preserve and expand opportunities like this for everyone in Heber Valley.
